One week until Florida...

We leave for vacation next Sunday! Madison is doing much better this week. She is still coughing some, but she is back to her normal happy self! All of her bloodwork came back negative, so we found out that she just has bad luck when it comes to getting sick. Hopefully it will stop snowing & get warm again soon so we can move on from this sick winter!

Another day home from daycare

Madison was better on Tuesday than she was yesterday... my Mom is staying with her again today. Her temperature still seems to be under control, but she wanted to snuggle & sleep all day again yesterday. Her allergy panel came back negative so she's not allergic to anything and her antibodies/immune system seem to be functioning properly. We're still waiting on one test result - the vaccine response labs. I'm so glad we have the breathing maching at home because Madison has been coughing alot and that machine seems to bring instant relief. She needs one good day at home before she returns with the other kids at daycare - hopefully today is our day!

Ear infection & pneumonia

So much has changed since my last post. Madison's fever spiked to 104.9 overnight on Sunday and we took her to her pediatrician Monday morning. He confirmed that her left ear was infected, but not enough of an infection to cause the 104.9 fever. He sent us over to Anderson Hospital to get a stat chest x-ray because he predicted pneumonia. He was right, they called me a few hours later to say she has lower right lobe pneumonia - which I understand has the pain equivilent of a collapsed lung & is what was causing her so much discomfort. The Dr gave her an antibiotic shot to help speed the process since the Amoxcillin from Sunday has not started working yet. She also had 3 viles of blood drawn yesterday to check her blood count levels, see if her immune system is working properly & also an allergy panel to rule out any allergies. The CBC blood count test is back already & is negative (which is good...all white & red cell counts look good). I'm still waiting to hear on the immune system & allergy panels tests. My Mom is staying with Madison today while Willie and I are working. She seems to be doing better & has the energy to play (which is huge since she had been sleeping since Saturday night!). I'll post updates once I know about the other test results.

Ear Infections

Grandpa Ulm & Jane were here yesterday & babysat while Willie and I went to a friends birthday party at the Marina. We were so tired from being up early with Madison that morning, that we were home before 9:00. I'm so glad we came home early because around 11 pm Madison's temperature started getting hot. She had around 100-101 during the night & it increased to 102 this morning. Willie was fishing a tournament this morning, so Dad helped me take Madison to Urgent Care. By the time they checked her in, her temp was 103.8. Her left ear is really infected and her right is slightly infected (not as clear as it should be). She is on Amoxicillin and seems to be feeling better. She never naps or snuggles during the day, but today is like a different baby. She slept most of the morning & has been napping with Daddy for the past 2 1/2 hours. (I really hope she sleeps tonight!)

On a side note - the babysitter has pinkeye which is highly contagious. Madison will be staying home tomorrow and we'll take this week day-by-day.

Ready for Florida

I had to try this swimsuit on Madison before Willie got home - I knew he would not approve! I probably would've never bought this myself, but it is a hand-me-down. Too cute!

Madison was so tired yesterday evening. We took a walk when we got home, put on her pj's and then she fell asleep sitting with Daddy.

Madison had a true ponytail today. I'm still not sure how the sitter gets her to sit still long enough, but it's cute!

Ready to go boating!

Madison tried on her new life jacket today & it fits! Now we just need to get the pontoon boat in the water - we're ready to go! She liked boat rides last year, but I think she'll enjoy them much more this year. Willie started his Sunday morning fishing tournaments today. It's going to be another nice day and we're planning on walking down to the Marina for the 1:30 weigh-in. I think Madison is finally over the 3 week cold. No coughing for the last few days and her antibiotic is finished.

Getting lost in all her toys!

Madison is 10 Months!

Madison is 10 months old today. Bless Willie's heart, he tried very hard to get a good 10 month picture this morning. I have to show all the pics because it makes me laugh. She finally had enough and took the paper under the dining room table - her favorite place to hide!

Madison is into EVERYTHING

We went to the Dr. for the third Monday in a row this afternoon...Madison now has a pneumonia infection. They gave her a 5 day antibiotic and we'll talk to the Dr again on Thursday. You would never know that she was sick - she's her normal happy self and into absolutely EVERYTHING! I hope you enjoy the pictures below and much I she enjoyed taking them. (She is crawling so fast now...and when she hears me coming after her, she kicks into turbo gear and goes even faster!)

Playing under the dining room table.

Madison would rather play under her Exersaucer than in it.

I think Madison will be walking before our Florida trip (Apr 5 - 12). She took her first real step last night, but is still working on her balance. As you can see, she likes to play with the DVD player! Her night-time coughing is still there, but not as severe as last week. And this weekend she started to have a runny nose. The poor baby has had quite a time staying healthy.

Bath Time Fun

Madison did much better with her coughing last night & I don't see any need to call the Dr. today. I think the oral steroids are working - we're keeping our fingers crossed.

Madison has moved from her baby tub into the big bath tub and loves it! She has found how to drain the water & loves to stand up! She's a handful!

I don't have new pictures right now, but wanted to give an update on Madison. She has been coughing a lot during the night for the last 7-10 days. I took her to the Dr. last Monday and they said it was just a small cold that she should get over within 5 days. The coughing got worse over the weekend so I took her back to the Dr. yesterday. What started as a cold has triggered her asthmatic condition and her Pulse-ox numbers weren't quite where they should be. So we're giving her an oral steroid along with the breathing treatment steroid we do daily already. She did better last night & only had one bad coughing fit. I'm giving her one more night for the oral steroid to eliminate the cough...if she still coughs tonight we're going back to the Dr. tomorrow. The next step is to do a chest Xray to make sure she doesn't have pneumonia settling in her lungs. The Dr. doesn't suspect that yet, but the Xray will determine for sure.

She's fine during the day and is her normal happy self - it's just the night cough that is giving her trouble. I'll update tomorrow & try to get some new pictures up this week.
